Thanks to Darrell & Megabites, now after 3 fantastic trips I can honestly say I've enjoyed my best fishing in my eighty years. Darrell is the true professional at his vocation, more than a fisherman but more as a Fish HUNTER.
Ive been on the Day trip twice and the evening once and found them both fullfilly experiences. I would highly recommend the full day trip to fill your bag limit with high quality fish. Took my 32 year old son for his first sea fishing experience and he ended up with a sore arm with winding them in, he will definitly be back.

★★★★★For people coming from out of town access is easy -just a few 100 mtrs off the motorway. There is plenty of reasonable priced parking.
Fast boat which got us out faster than others boats that left before us. All gear supplied. was spot on and in excellent condition.
Darell kept plenty of bait in front of us at all time and a real bonus he even took all the fish off the hooks. He took us to the right spots and all persons fishing on the boat left with plenty of snapper plus other varieties. Right from the get go we were made to feel comfortable. Darrell kept an eye out for us all & ensured we were catching fish. He helped to bring in our fish, there was heaps of bait & we certainly caught our quota! Plenty of Kahawai & Snapper. Loads of fun. We really took home a great feed. ★★★★★My 17 year old son and I recently went on a Megabites Fishing Charter. The Skipper, Mr Darell Diggs was the ultimate professional. He clearly explained the rules and regulations of the boat charter before we left the pier. There was then no mucking around about getting out to the fishing grounds and we were very quickly into the fishing. The bait and rods supplied were excellent and it was not long before the fish started coming over the side. We both caught our limits well within the time allocated for our charter.

Darell is very spot on and most helpful with both the inexperienced and experienced fisherman (even the experienced old salts picked up some new tricks). For those people who have never done a charter before (or even fished for a long time), you can be assured that you will have the most enjoyable fun day. After reading Darell’s comments (there are many) it confirmed to me that Darell was a good fit for our group – a good all round guy, large comfortable boat and experienced to surely get you onto catching the fish. We pretty much headed straight out, anchored up, got our quota for 8 staff and came back in. Staff were very happy with the day and as such we are booked in for Nov 2016. My wife and I couldn't believe how many snapper we caught we went home on the plane with a suit case full and ate like kings for weeks. ★★★★★We had a great time fishing with Darell. We had 3 grandparents, Mom and Dad, and kids 21, 18, 16 and 10. Darell makes fishing fun for all. When he hooked up he passed the rod to Kash_the youngest_ (even though Kash was baiting and and catching on his own) , allowing him to catch the biggest snapper as well as some catch and release smaller ones. He also handed 16 year old Lacie his hookup. Lacie hauled in a 4 foot long Mako shark. Catching the Mako was quite an experience for her. Mom, LiAnn was surprised and happy to catch a good sized Kingfish even though we were bottom fishing for Snapper. It gave her all the fight she could ask for. Darell is a great guy and an amazing trainer. His tips and tricks helped us to catch some good fish on the day. He knows the right spots for the best catch. He absolutely makes sure everyone has the best experience and gets their fair share of the treat.
He is professional and casual at the same time, had a good banter while on a little break. He does go the extra mile to make it an experience to remember.
I will not google fishing trips ever. I just know who and where to go to. Feel like fishing - Darell is the man!

Darell certainly knows where to find the fish even in difficult conditions. I have found with this skipper over the years that you are more likely to catch your quota than with a lot of other charters that I have been on. ★★★★★As keen anglers our first charter experience was earlier this year, through an alternative charter operation which was half the cost. We thought we'd try Megabites which is twice the price of the cheaper charter however since then we have been back on Darell's charter at least 5 times and is the only charter we will spend our money on. Darell's boat is clean, fast and safe. We've caught plenty of fish and never stay in spots for too long if no-one is catching. Darell is always happy to assist which is great. time for another Charter.Deciding on
which charter to use can be a
difficult decision with pricing,
itinerary and comfort all to be
considered. Thankfully we had gone
through this process before and since
we had such an awesome experience
onboard with Darell and Megabites
previously, it was actually pretty
easy this time round. Plenty of bites
followed up by decent fish. If things
did slow down it wasn?t for long,
Darell simply moved us to a different
location and it was all on again.
Everyone was enjoying their time
relaxing on the soothing waters
surrounding Auckland. I have to
say for all the fishing and
competition and banter between the
lads, Darell was always there in the
background offering advice, help and
getting involved but most of all
making sure we were all comfortable.
By then end, once again we arrived
safely back to Marina with our haul.

★★★★★From the get go we could tell it was going to be a cracker of a day. Darrell went straight to spot X where my grand uncle,( who I took out for his 71st bday) landed the 1st 4 snapper before the rest of us gt a bite. We all caught fish and when the bite stopped we weighed anchor and went to spot X, again.
There a few more were caught before we moved to spotX again. this wasnt that great and our time was up but Darrell took us to yet another SpotX for an xtra hour. this is where the uncle caught a nice64 cm snapper and that made his day. Darrel we were all so happy that plans are already in motion for another fish with you. Your hospitality, knowledge and expertise helped us have a great day, oh snd the 40 odd snapper we took home with us of course. thanks mate, will see you soon.

Great day out snapper fishing. Only 5 of us on board which didn't bother the skipper, he still head way out to where the fish were holding. Caught plenty of fish to take home to our family's for dinner. Will differently go out with him again, no fuss at all. Next time will be taking some more mates with me. 1)We have never come home without a decent catch
2)your hospitality is simply outstanding
3)you have taught several of my family members, employees and friends how to enjoy catching a fish
4)my 70 year old dad gets treated like royalty. You help in getting his hooks off the fish,untangling his line,cutting his bbait and making him that nice cup of tea when its slack tide

hour charter on 20th October 2013.
From start to finish the entire
experience was fantastic.On the day
of the trip we arrived at the boat
and it was already kitted out, very
clean, we were welcomed on board by
Darell, had a safety brief and we
set out. After a comfortable trip
out we had our lines in and
absorbing the awesome weather we
were lucky enough to get. The
skipper definitely knew where to be
as we were soon reeling in the fish.
Darell was always on hand to help or
advice as we needed everyone on
board was getting their fair share
of the action. Some big fish too I
might add!! We had ample time to
fish and relax in the sun and we
returned with a pretty successful
haul. All in all it was an awesome
day at sea with an experienced and
professional skipper who went out of
his way to ensure everyone had an
enjoyable and safe time out fishing!
Highly recommend Megabites to
anyone, beginner or experienced.
